I don't know if I can keep going that long.

Anyone else doing the old matchstick under the eyelids trick?

Midnight Mass here has moved to 10.00 here to avoid the pubites..we are going at 9.00am ..but dp is working on taxis tonight so he will deffo have the matchsticks in..

alexsmum · 24/12/2005 22:43

just trying to decide what to do.
earlier on i thought i would deffo go and feel i need the peace and stillness and a big reminder of what its all about. went to christingle earlier but love the ritual of taking communion etc.
however i am so tired as up till 3 last night doing jobs. will have to go alone as dh will have to look after kids and don't drive so will have to walk.
can i face it????

fisiltoe · 24/12/2005 22:45

I feel the same. But I love the stillness. It is the only service of the year when I can go and be myself and not be a busy mummy!

got it fisiltoe. usually spend half the service whispering thomas books and pointing out baby jesus in the windows and saying 'listen for the bells' ..and all the usual guff we do to keep them entertained.

The telly is on and dp is fast asleep on sofa snoring and i am doing the debating of midnight mass but unsure as so many places dont do it anymore or rather its much earlier in the evening.
Also my religion isnt very popular where I live so there may not even be a service!!!!!!!!

I'm waiting. DH has gone to bed. I've got coffee and I'm hoping to see Bridget Jones to the end and then whizz off. Children are only 4 and 1 and I'm SAHM so still get big thrill being outside the house alone !!

fisiltoe · 24/12/2005 22:51

I am do tired, and will be up with ds2 at 6 (or 5) and have to drive 100 miles tomorrow morning.

But I do love the service.

Oh, i'm too tired to cope with decisions!

Just got in a wee while ago, our service started at 11.30pm. Dh is on night shift so was just me and the baby - debated wether or not to go but she slept through most of it and is back down again so glad we went. Just having a cuppa before going to bed. Goodnight and Merry Christmas!
