Its my friends baby's christening and really just want to buy him a nice gift... Not into silver spoons or anything religious etc. Any suggestions?

Books, books, always books for christenings. Something special that you can write in and they can keep. Classic books like Chronicles of Narnia, Wind in the Willows, Beatrix Potter, Winnie the Pooh, Jungle Book, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan. You can get lovely editions of all these on Amazon in hardback that would make a perfect gift. Or how about nursery rhymes? I bought this recently here if you don't want to spend too much. For another christening, I bought this - very cute.

For DS's christening we were also given a beautiful Steiff teddy bear and a little Wedgewood music box - depends how much you want to spend. Loads of options out there - just definitely don't buy a silver spoon or a money box!
