Moral dilemma question - what would you do?

This test only has one question, but it's a very important one. By giving an honest answer, you will discover where you stand morally.
The test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation in which you will have to make a decision. Remember that your answer needs to be honest, yet spontaneous.

THE SITUATION
You are in New Orleans. There is chaos all around you caused by a hurricane with severe flooding.
You are photo journalist working for a major newspaper, and you're caught in the middle of this epic disaster. You're trying to shoot career-making photos.
The situation is nearly hopeless. There are houses and people swirling around you, some disappearing under the water. Nature is unleashing all of its destructive fury.

THE TEST
Suddenly you see a man in the water. He is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken down with the debris. You move closer. Somehow the man looks familiar.
You suddenly realize who it is. It's the President, George W. Bush. At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him under forever.
You have two options- you can save the life of the President, or you can shoot a dramatic Pulitzer Prize winning photo, documenting the death of one of the world's most famous men.
THE QUESTION
Here's the question, and please give an honest answer.......

Would you select high contrast colour film, or would you go with the classic simplicity of black and white?

save him

rofl
black and white, captures the shadows

Papillon · 26/10/2005 11:41

So I deduce that you would not use any film then OO?

That is good. I went through thinking, no question, save him! Oh, it's George. Oh, maybe not then. Oh, but I couldn't live with myself. I'd save him. And then that!

OrribleOliveoil · 26/10/2005 11:43

I actually responded without reading further down! But I would save him, yes, he is a human being (I think).

But after saving him I would duck him under the water a few times and give him a little kicking.

Thanks Papillon, hahahahaha thats really cheered me up.

Being the paparazzi whizz that I am, I would have two cameras, one with colour the other with black and white - and attached to my forehead a video camera for all the moving action.

That would ensure my career success and hopefully get me the Nobel peace prize.

I think to be honest that i would have been trying to save some of the people who i could see struggling in the water, george bush has no more right to be saved than any of the others. I would just try my best to help - sod the camera!!

lol at the last bit - black and white of course!!

gothicmama · 27/10/2005 17:44

glorious technicolour

GeorginaA · 27/10/2005 18:37

Colour - because I'd be using a D-SLR, and it's better to take in colour as you can always convert to classic B&W later in Photoshop if you feel the image looks better that way

krib · 27/10/2005 18:42

I think a black & white shot would somehow be more poignant

SenoraPostrophe · 27/10/2005 18:50

oh georgina!

photoshop still does not do black and white like film does black and white.

twirlaround · 27/10/2005 18:52

save him

GeorginaA · 27/10/2005 19:24

SP - ah, you're probably not using the free plug in then Virtual Photographer

(Oh, and you're probably not spending £5000+ on your DSLR either, but then neither am I )

Gem754 · 31/10/2005 10:38

Save him because I couldn't watch anybody die - even George W
