Healings/Miracles

I am a Christian. I struggle with everything I hear about miraculous healings and other 'miracles' etc. Has anyone here had first hand experience of real, miraculous healing? It's just that to be honest I've never seen any miraculous healing - I suppose I'm a bit sceptical. I'd be interested to hear from anyone

I would say it is bunk to be honest. I do reiki healing and even very successful treatments do not instantly cure - it takes a few treatments to see improvements.

I've never seen any, or heard any convincing evidence. In general, I think it's more appropriate to pray for strength and support in coping with a condition, rather than for a miracle cure. And, of course, getting medical help!

Yes the medical help is a good idea! Grin

I find it makes more sense to pray for a competent doctor Grin

I recently heard of a man (in Glasgow) who was told he had weeks to live with terminal cancer, and that a group of people decided to pray for his healing, and after that he went back to be tested and there was no more cancer.

There is a theroy/field of thought that what we think about manifests in our body - or rather, that negative emtional experiences can manifest in differing illnesses, the work of Louise Hay describes this. I don't think this is instantaneous healing though... Agree with the prayer to find the best medical help etc

Yes pray extra hard - I have a doctor now but I have had some shockers! Will never forget the guy who used to swig whisky during appointments and got struck off for fondling patients having smears Hmm

yes indigobarbie, there is a lady in the reiki group I used to belong to who swears blind she cured herself of breast cancer with reiki. I would never call her a liar but I do find it hard to beleive.

Yes

A good friend was healed of complete deafness in one ear

I know someone who when they had their 20 week scan the baby had heart abnormalities, and cleft lip and palate, and was not going to live. There was much praying, and the baby was born without any problems at all. The doctors could not explain it as the scan pics showed clearly the problems.

I had a knee injury and was having physio. I was prayed with and the injury disappeared and I could walk and run like I hadn't in months

I'm telling about these events to say yes, I believe in healing, have seen it happen (and many more) But, it also doesn't happen. More often. I have chronic lung disease, and it has not been healed. My friends baby died of cancer. Mostly, for whatever reason, God doesn't heal. I totally agree about praying for the strength and seeking medical help. I hate to hear about these extremists who say they shouldn't ever see a doctor etc. Angry

But occasionally God does, and it's always worth asking. Again and again.

It's confirmation bias.

And that's assuming there was ever anything to "get better" in the first place.

when i was three months pregnant, one night i just started bleeding heavily, early the next morning i went to see my doctor who said to me' i am so sorry , i can't give you any hope, it looks like you are going to lose the baby',i sobbed and left the doctor's office, when i was outside a still small voice told me to call a sister in Africa, i am in Europe, i did, told her my story, she in turn said 'actually in our church there is a mr so and so who is in the ministry of children, call him', i did, and he prayed for me over the phone, as soon as he started praying, my baby woke up, started moving and ,yes i felt her,

I knew then that was a miracle and told this man that i would show him my baby when i visited, i did, in dec. she is a beautiful 10month healthy little girl, but then again i am a christian who believes that God will do His will not ours, some get healed others don't.
