Did I just see a ghost?

Although I didn't actually see it as such. I was sat in the arm chair in the lounge the door is to the left of me.

Through the corner of my eye I saw dh come in and he was leant over my left shoulder looking at what I was doing on my iPad.

I was wittering away to him for a few minutes I then turned to look at him and there was nobody there Shock I called out to dh but he was upstairs and said he'd been up there for ages.

But I swear there had been somebody there and it was definitely a man. I also felt a feeling of love coming from him, like whoever it was really cared about me

ok, I'll bite then.

No you didn't see a ghost. You thought your husband was there and your brain filled in the blanks. Peripheral vision is a funny old thing.

ilovemyhens · 04/01/2011 21:40

I saw the ghost of a dog when I was in the kids home. One of the carers that looked after us used to have an old mongrel that used to come into the home and visit us from time to time.

It did get sick though and she had to have it put down.

About a week later I had forgotten to bring something from my bedroom for school and I went up after breakfast to fetch it. I walked through the fire door into the corridor and saw the dog walking out of my bedroom, then it went across the landing and disappeared. I was surprised, but not frightened and just got on with my day. I didn't tell anyone in case they thought I was silly.

I saw the dog just as clearly as I can see my own cat sitting in front of me now.

I wasn't attached to the dog and I don't even like them, so it wasn't wishful thinking or some kind of grief reaction.

Perhaps you did see a ghost.

expatinscotland · 04/01/2011 21:40

It's possible. But I'm well-known as a believer.

singingcat · 04/01/2011 21:43

Doesn't sound conclusive to me

needsatrim · 04/01/2011 21:51

Oh why not not believe!
in the week after my dad died I saw him on the landing outside my bedroom moving furniture around. I dare anyone to challenge me, and it has kept me going for last 20 years.

Curiousmama · 04/01/2011 21:54

Sounds more like a spirit especially as you felt love. Am also a believer (spiritualist) had too much evidence not to be.

Ghosts don't normally interact.

McHobbes · 04/01/2011 21:55

No, they don't exist. Hth x

seeker · 04/01/2011 21:58

No you didn't.

ilovemyhens · 04/01/2011 22:21

How can anybody categorically say that they don't exist? Millions of people the world over have had experiences of something that is commonly described as a ghost.

LemonDifficult · 04/01/2011 22:23

Awesome. Why not? Although, it sounds more like you 'felt' a ghost than saw one.

ilovesprouts · 04/01/2011 22:26

dont im in bed

lal123 · 04/01/2011 22:30

no you didn't - they don't exist. ilovemyhens - if htey did exist then lots more people would have seen them and there would be some proof

ilovemyhens · 04/01/2011 22:35

But lots of people do report seeing them and obtaining proof is difficult because how many people have the time to faff on taking a photo of something that's only there for a few seconds? Hmm

Setting up autocameras and videos to 'capture' one is also difficult because they don't perform and appear when they're wanted. They're just random events.

I saw that dog as easily as I can see my computer now. It wasn't in my peripheral vision and I wasn't imagining it. I was fully awake and there it was, right in front of me, about two feet away. Perhaps ghosts are glitches in time or dimension or something, they might not even be spirits, but they do exist. Too many people the world over report the same kind of phenomenon.

lal123 · 04/01/2011 22:38

ghost dogs???? och now come on! If there are ghost dogs where are all the ghost cows? Ghost mice? Ghost kangaroos??????????

cornshilk007 · 04/01/2011 22:38

I want to believe in ghosts and think I have experienced one but with CCTV surely ghost sightings would be all over the place.

singingcat · 04/01/2011 22:38

It is possible to 'see' things that aren't there for physiological reasons, you know, brains and things

Hypangogic hallucinations are very common.

CameronCook · 04/01/2011 22:39

I experienced similar to the OP many years ago - I was drying my hair in the mirror and 'saw' DH come into the room behind me.

House was empty apart from the dog who would not come up into that part of the house, would freeze and give a low growl and back away.

CameronCook · 04/01/2011 22:40

And now I'm scaring myself just before bed

ilovemyhens · 04/01/2011 22:44

Hypnagogic hallucination?

I wasn't asleep or had just woken up. I was dressed and ready for school.

ilovemyhens · 04/01/2011 22:47

ghosts of animals

BertieBottlesOfMulledWine · 04/01/2011 22:48

Ghost cows, mice, kangaroos, if they exist, are probably with all the other cows, mice and kangaroos - I doubt if you drove past a field of cows you'd notice if one of them disappeared.

But anyway I imagine if animals did come back as ghosts it would probably be more likely pets that did, rather than random animals like whales.

expatinscotland · 04/01/2011 22:49

I'm with ya, Curious! Had my first experience at age 29 and denied it until it was, well, I really couldn't from the evidence I got (inadvertently).

McHobbes · 04/01/2011 22:50

Of course they don't exist. Stop being silly.

expatinscotland · 04/01/2011 22:51

Of course, they do exist.

McHobbes · 04/01/2011 22:52

Hahahaaa!
