Wink

DH is 50 next May.
He's clocked up 42 years of service in our choir, 16 of which he's been The Organist.

We want to present him with a Long Service Medal.

I've emailed the RSCM (local branch) to see if we can do our own (because Canterbury doesn't do one - my old diocese of Southwell does one and has a proper presentation and everything).

I had a reply saying thatthey weren't sure what I could do, and they've sent my email to the RSCM head office to see what they suggest.

I'm rather excited Grin , and I need to talk to someone about it, but I can't talk to DH cos it's a secret!

[aarrgh]

Really kind of you to try and do summat for him, bet he'll be so pleased. You're a nice wife! :o

Lovely to see a wife doing something nice for her partner. You don't see a lot of that nowadays.

MaryBS · 25/11/2010 09:27

Thats lovely nickel! :)

Mummy2Bookie, do you really not see a lot of that? I think thats a shame, because I see evidence of it most days!

That was one of the questions I put to the regional secretary - she said she'd forward my email in its entirety to the HO - I thought a grey/silver colour would be good on the normal medal. (cos then it's completely different to any of the proven skills awards)

I can't see why they'd raise an objection to it.

Update!
Grin

The RSCM didn't raise any objections (well, they didn't reply to the email, so I took their silence to mean "yes, go ahead"
Grin

Anyway, it's going to be presented tomorrow.
We're using a normal RSCM medal with a silvery-grey ribbon (that I bougth seperately)
The priest will give him the medal, and hopefully say some words. I have been told he's got it all sorted.

Scary and nerve-making! But really exciting! Grin

madhairday · 21/05/2011 11:43

:) Brilliant news! Let us know how it goes and what dh says!

nickelbabe · 21/05/2011 11:46

:)
Dunno when they'll do it, cos there's a baptism and a thanksgiving on the same day!
I'm thinking of taking a packed lunch Grin
