Oh joy, got a lovely opportunity to (metaphorically/verbally) duff up an Alpha course peddler today!

So there I was, trotting happily from Olympia tube to the Erotica exhibition, had to pass by some people singing with guitars. One of whom leapt at me with a leaflet.
Me: What's this?
Leafleter: It's the Alpha Course.
Me: No thanks, the Alpha course is a scam
Leafleter: Why, what do you mean?
Me: well, first of all, there are no gods. Secondly, it's rightwing homophobic misogynistic bullshit. ANd I do hope you break free of it. Bye now.
Me:

Oh, well done! I've never had the opportunity, even the JW don't do house calls round here.

[very rural emoticon]

Were they targetting Erotica, or was it just by chance?

SparklingExplosionGoldBrass · 21/11/2010 02:08

THey were out there singing by the ticket office. I asked the ticket seller how much they'd paid them to be there - we never had fish-heads in myday... (though did have them in 98 at the Stoke On Trent Erotica rip-off, which I didn't realise at the time. I was late arriving, and slightly disconcerted by the sight of group of people iin the car park, so grabbed someone and asked if it was exhibitor photocall? Was told no, christians protesting against the exhibition. If I had known, would have borrowed big dildo and run out shouting, 'This what you're praying for?')

But why should Xtians be anti-sex? My DSis (born again) maintained that sex, and the pleasure there-in, was a God-given gift. Confused

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 21/11/2010 02:14

OK, also to be enjoyed within God-given strictures, (ie, marriage) but still... she was pretty fundy at the time.

(We don't discuss religion any more, by mutual agreement.)

I'm a Christian and I loooooooooooovvvvveee sex. Just sayin' :)

Glad you had yourself some fun, SGB. :)

Being a Christian is no more indicative of being a complete knobend than watching the X factor is. Being a tiresome pest is soething that crosses all the borders, really.

So what were that lot doing? Confused

[really am going to bed, if only you'd stop being so damn interesting emoticon]

SparklingExplosionGoldBrass · 21/11/2010 16:40

SInging outside the ticket hall with guitars and brandishing Alpha Course leaflets. The ones in Stoke I think were just holding hands and praying at everyone.

CheerfulYank · 23/11/2010 01:08

Were they playing anything on the guitars, or just standing about?

SparklingExplosionGoldBrass · 23/11/2010 22:06

Playing and singing. Not too well but not too badly.

Did they have rainbow guitar straps. I am a Christian but I think that leaping in people's faces brandishing leaflets is a little bit aggressive and I'm not sure that Jesus would have done it.
