Favourite one-liner prayers

Please share.

My current favourite is:
Dear Lord, put your arm around my shoulder and your hand across my mouth.

I know it sounds flippant, but I really am too quick with the smart comment and I need to be controlled.

what are your favourite quick prayers?

Be still and know that I am God.

(Well not me personally.............)

nickelbabe · 22/09/2010 10:25

My favourite quick prayer today is "please God, help me to overcome"

(bad, bad, bad PCC meeting last night :( )

FreddoBaggyMac · 22/09/2010 10:45

"One day at a time sweet Jesus"

OK, it's actually a song title, but it reminds me of the best advice my late mum used to give me just to take everything as it comes, and not waste energy on regretting yesterday or worrying about tomorrow... covers a lot of stuff Smile

PacificDogwood · 22/09/2010 10:47

Dear Lord, give me patience!

I use that one a lot.....

Greenwing · 24/09/2010 21:36

'Here I am Lord.'

Both offering myself and asking God to find me, on different occasions.

acorntree · 24/09/2010 22:24

'Lord, thy will be done.'

A useful one when things are tricky and I don't know what to pray for

Geocentric · 24/09/2010 22:27

Sometimes at special meals we say: We love our bread, we love our butter, but most of all, we love each other. (borrowed it from "Madeleine")

mariagoretti · 24/09/2010 23:03

Please God... Thank You! for.... Sorry about.... Are You sure I should... Ok, You got me there...

MrsCadwallader · 25/09/2010 10:02

I think my too-often used prayer is the so called 'Shepards Prayer' - not Shepard as in sheep but Shepard as in Alan Shepard, the American astronaut who once famously prayed "Oh Lord, please don't let me f**k up"

It's stood me in good stead on many occasions Blush

But I like all the rest of those here too - I'll be making a note of them!!

TooBlessedToBeStressed · 28/09/2010 13:57

Lord have mercy!! because many times i find myself commenting and saying things i shouldn't,therefore i am ALWAYS in need of mercy:o

smithylovesme · 07/10/2010 21:31

These following one liners are taken from two prayers on Father Mychal Judge's prayer card.

"...Lord keep me out of Your way."

"...and no matter what mess you're in, you're always held and loved by God"

For the full prayer card see: SaintMychalJudge.blogspot.com

He isn't a saint at all, but was a working chaplain who sadly died in the Twin Towers.

sh77 · 08/10/2010 17:31

Dear God, in your infinite mercy do not forget me. Please surround me with love, blessings, and light.

aig · 10/10/2010 19:01

The Jesus prayer:

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.

niminypiminy · 10/10/2010 21:14

With all I have to do today, Lord, I may forget you, but please do not forget me.

Eloise73 · 17/10/2010 19:50

gopeaceful I LOVE LOVE LOVE your prayer, a good one for me, I talk too much...Wink

The one I say the most throughout the day is 'Lord, please give me strength and patience, especially patience'. I also use 'Help me to be closer to you Lord' because I am always so dismayed at how quickly I get sidetracked and completely forget that i'm living for Him. Im a work in progress Grin
