SUNDAY SCHOOL HELP NEEDED

chummum · 14/08/2010 18:23

I am now down on our Sunday school rota, first in new term will be 19/9. Can I have ideas of what to do? It is a very small church with tiny amount of children huge difference in age, from 2-13!! However usually only max of 8 kids! Its all very informal, I want them to enjoy/learn something at the same time.
I was also thinking about doing something tomorrow morning, when there will probably be even less children, possibly only my own 2! But again feel I want it to be worthwhile and fun too.
Pleease can you HELP?????

There are tonnes of ideas on the Internet.

With ours, I tend to follow format of a bible story (kids love being read to they really do) a discussion of wider context, a related activity and then a game or two.

There are some great websites around - try sermons4kids (something like that) - or googles 'sunday school ideas'.

If you are really short of time try taking in a few newspapers (check nothing too unsuitable first !!) and get them to look through them - looking for good news/bad news/ how to help people etc. type stories - can generate some discussion.

Good luck

Have you tried googling Sunday school resources/ideas? There are loads of websites where you can get ideas, print out colouring pages, wordsearches, crosswords, mazes etc.

I would focus on a bible story each week with a follow up activity of some sort and a craft activity (make a bookmark, that sort of thing)

Thanks, I'll have a look about. Just don't feel very confident!

The Scripture Union Light material is really good. we use that in a similar setting - around 8-10 children ranging from 5-11 ish - we adapt it to suit as it has so many ideas for each session, then give the age appropriate stuff out to differentiate a bit.

Hope you find something helpful. You'll be fine.
