Well it's something i'm thinking about for my family as I have been unable to find a local church which is right for us. Until about 6 months ago my dc's and I attended a small independant church but I always felt a huge pressure to get my dh(?athiest) to attend.
Just wondering really if any other mumsnetters home church and if so what are your reasoins for this?

what's home churching? Setting up a little church in your own home with other people or just having a kind of service with your own family only?

Are you sure there was so much pressure on you to bring dh to church? Maybe it was more in your mind? Just asking because it might be a bit lonely for you all if a home church is just you and the dc at home.

The Duggars home church .

No it was not in my mind! I was not the only person to leave at that time either, two other church members decided to leave as they were not very comitable with being pressured to get their dh's to attend. If I can accept that my dh doesn't want to attend church why can't others?
I can understand what you are saying about it could be lonely which is why I thought I could speak to others who home church. I was also thinking of asking another former member of the chuch if she wants to join me as I know that she is not attending any church atm.

that sounds bad about all the pressure. Maybe another independent church of that type but a bit bigger? Have no exp of home church, hope you get a response to that then.

To be honest just want to know if its possible to be a Christian without going to any formal church meetings?

I think so, yes

yes it's possible to be Christian without going to any formal church but we are called to be a community, that we will be identified by our love for one anohter.

How about seeing if they can meet with you either on a weekday or an evening for a time of study/group prayer/worship so that you can support one another etc?
