Lighting a candle/what prayer?

Can someone please help?

I want to light a candle and say a prayer to the good lord above asking him to look out for someone I know who is not very well at the moment.

What prayers are you meant to say, or is it just as I have always done, used my own words?

Any help/advice apreciated.

TIA

MagicOC, you can just talk to God as if you are talking to another person - its good that you've always used your own words, because they are your thoughts, your feelings. Sometimes we use other prayers, when our own words don't seem enough, but you're doing just fine!

I always use my own words too, and sometimes say the Lord's Prayer too. Someone else might have some ready made prayers they use which bring them comfort.

If you would like others to pray too, there is a prayer thread here:

MaryBS, thank you so much for your reply.

It's comforting to know that I haven't been doing it wrong so far.
