not sure whether this belongs in good housekeeping, but.....everything i put in the machine comes out covered in cat hair. do you think there's anything i can do save buying a new machine or moving house???

Have you tried brushing the cat hair off before putting the clothes in the machine?

there isn't any on before it goes in!!!! that's what's so annoying!

sorry- really not following here.

have you ever had a cat?

alternatively have you used the handwash cycle to do a fluffy jumper which is what it could be?

Have you cleaned the filter out?

we have 4 cats. hairy things have gone in there. i have no idea where to find the filter! but now new things that are untainted by hair are coming out covered!

I may be the last person to find this out, but I recently read that you're supposed to do a maintenance wash every so often to keep your machine from getting too clogged up and scummy.

I have 2 cats, so my machine is always full of cat hairs too. I put mine on a 90 degree wash with some soda crystals, and nothing else, in the drum. It made a big difference. Also helps to get rid of soap scum and things, even if no pet hairs.

That might help, at least a bit? Cleaning the filter would probably help too, as differentID said.

i leave the door open after a wash, then get kitchen towel and scoop all the wet hair from round door and drum, then leave door open until drum is dry, then hoover inside machine.
