Just found a newborn bird on our lawn - being played with by cat but can't work out what it is.
No other birds in area but lots of cats and as it's moving quite a lot, we've put it in a box to 'save'.
It's lapping milk a bit but I can't open it's beak wide enough for it to take lots.
It's got pale yellow down but only just (looks almost like it's just come out of the egg). I reckon something has carried it over and dropped it on the lawn.
It's beak is long for its size and it's black with a white tiny tip on the top and bottom. It's eyes are shut but it's neck is quite long and wobbly.

Anyone got any ideas as to what it could be?

Thanks.

Don't know what it is but when this happened in our garden we bunged it in a bush...and then went inside.

It was tweeting away and we could see a couple of parent bird flitting around...looking for it? Anyway it disappeared - taken back to nest by its p's?

Do you think the cat might have nicked it out of a cage?

Not sure what type it is but the white tip sounds like the 'egg tooth' birds have to help them tap themselves out of the egg.
It dosn't need milk. A good food is soaked dog biscuits fed using a pair of tweezers.

Bird is now dead .

Think it was a pigeon.
Thanks for info though
