Cows

Would anyone be willing to take on a very small herd of dexter cattle complete with a castrated bull? the owner reckons people would take on the cows but the bull would only go to slaughter (he had his bits chopped) and his Mum would be really sad without him. He's nearly two now and still feeds off her and the other cows all stand over him when he sleeps and spend ages cleaning and grooming him. The fact he's grown a lot bigger than them seems to have passed them by . i can't imagine this lovely herd being broken up, but the owner has to move house .

how many are there and what part of the country are they in? perhaps you could look for animal sanctuaries that take in livestock also would renting land for them in the meantime be an option for the owner?

Mmm.... my mum took on a whole heard of sheep about 4 years ago because the owner couldnt afford to rent land to keep them on any more.

So, I spose some one might...

thank you- I will let the owner know that some may be interested even with the castrated male so he doesn't think of slaughter as the only option. I thought of sanctuaries too. Its N.Yorks and they have to relocate to S.Lincs.
