please help me with this.

we have two pups, who are getting half a cup of food 3x a day. which sounds fine and as directed on the pack.

however as dh gets up at 5am for work, he lets them out to do their business, then feeds them just before 6am.

next feed is lunch time, then again after we have our tea, about 6pm.

is this ok? or should i do 4 smaller feeds throughout the day? their feeds will increase in portion size as they get bigger, we are just following whats on the pack.

obviously as pups they do that half starved look everytime anyone goes into the kitchen lol.

they are sleeping well, about 9hours at night with no grumbling from them at all.

I feed mine on 4 meals a day until 12 weeks then 3 meals a day until 6 months.

added a midmorning feed, moving lunchtime to midafternoon then last feed between 6-7pm.

does that sound ok?

I agree, I think 4 times is better until around 3 months. They're all different though!

The packet is just a guide, often the needs of an individual will vary hugely from the recommended quantities. Also, at this age they will generally regulate their own intake based on their need, so you can pretty much feed them as much as they will eat (but this is most definitely not true of dogs beyond around 6 months, and your pups' breeding in particular!).

What ever suits you but I feed

7.00am, midday, 5.00pm and 10pm so they don't more than 5 hours without food (except night of course!)

Feeding late at night and then bed at 11.00 gives them time to wee poo etc and then they will sleep with a full tum until morning (hopefully).

i am often in bed way before 11.

4 meals seemed to have worked better today, so will stikc with that for now.
