Cats and kittens needing homes

This is a shameless plug for the Cats Protection Bredhurst (Kent) adoption centre. Yesterday they took in 14 young black and white kittens in a terrible state that had been abandoned in a alleyway, in a soaking wet box and in a poor state of health. Within the hour they were receiving vet treatment with us and are now being cared for by the fantastic team at this adoption centre. They have about 200 cats and kittens right now and are desperate for new homes for many of them asap. These kittens will not be ready to rehome for at least a couple of weeks but there are many more that are, and any spaces created by rehoming now will allow the charity to take in others from their waiting list. If you are looking for a cat or kitten please do think of them and go and take a look. They have a facebook page here
Thanks.

I'd be happy to give a home to a couple of older cats.

You say "Within the hour they were receiving vet treatment with us" so I'm assuming you work there so could I ask a couple of questions?...

I already have three cats (All over 10 years old hence prefering to re-home older cats) and four dogs. Neither the cats or the dogs chase or fight other cats (All v. lazy laid back) but would that be a problem when it came to re-homing from you? Also, what's the procedure when it comes to re-homing? Can we just turn up and take a cat home or will we have to fill out forms and wait to hear back?

I work at the vets, not the CPL. They do have guidelines about the circumstances for homing but I suggest you take a look at their facebook page where you could leave a message or give them a phone call 01634 232471 to discuss their policy. They are always looking for homes for older cats so I'm sure they will consider the circumstances carefully.

Hi again,

Thanks for replying. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Amandoh · 14/06/2010 14:04

I rang but unfortunately we're not very local to the Bredhurts CPL centre so adopting from them will be a problem as they have to do a home visit first.

Lady on the phone was very helpful though and I'm going to contact a more local CPL and see if we can adopt from them.

We hadn't really considered getting another cat as we have so many animals already but the cats are no trouble at all and another one or two in the house would be lovely.

I am sorry I couldn't be of more help to Bredhurst now that they have another 14 kittens on their hands but very much hope someone comes along and sees this thread that can.

oh My own cats were found in similar circs as kittens and we adopted them from the rspca in cardiff.

I'm not local so wouldn't be able to help - plus I suspect dh will divorce me if I bring home any more animals.

RGPargy · 14/06/2010 22:08

Oh the Bredhurst shelter is wonderful. I adopted one of my cats from there!

beautifulgirls · 16/06/2010 22:13

Fancy another one RG?

Hope you are able to get some nice local cats Amandoh. I'm sure your local CP will likely be over-run this time of year too.

Wanna - shame you can't have more just yet. One day perhaps.....

i would be tempted but live in the south west. i have homed 2 rescues now. one died in october, bless her, she was only 1 had leukemia.
but we have another now. when the time is right i will always go via CPL.

I hope you get homes for the little ones.

RGPargy · 16/06/2010 22:51

BG - lol no chance at the moment!

Pirate - one of my (years ago) beloved cats had leukemia and had to be put to sleep. We were like little sole mates and it absolutely devastated me.

Anyway, on a lighter note, when i get another cat it will deffo be from the CPL!

piratecat · 16/06/2010 23:47

yes we were devastated too, me and dd, little Pixie was only a yr old. She was truly an amzing cat, very talky slinky tortie.
