pet insurance?

inspired by the other thread abou taking pets to the vet and insurance maybe not paying up. i just wanted to ask. does anyone save up a certain amount each month and put it in a separate account rather than pay pet insurance just incase it didn't pay out on a claim?

i have heard more and more recently of people having to pay the treatment costs even though they have been paying insurance. i was thinking of not renewing our insurance this year and just saving the same amount instead into a bank account.

I do pay insurance, but have a friend who puts £30 a month into an account for her dog.

I have my insurance with Animal Friends. They have been efficient and reasonable. Paid £16 a month last year and after a couple of claims am paying £21 a month this year.

I dont pay insurance, but am in a financial position to pay any big bills without worry.

Never take out extended warranties or insure jewellery specially as I think the premiums involved are too high to warrant the risk.

I have pet insurance with Sainsbury's they have been brilliant and have paid out no problems whenever we have claimed. I think we pay about the same amount as schilke each month.

we have being paying it for 2 years for one cata nd one year for the other but haven't (touch wood) had to claim anything yet so that is just why i am asking. i guess as they get older it will become more likely that we will need to. they are only 2 and 1 at the minute.
