I am wondering because as a child I was badly bitten by a GSD now I have had a fear of dogs since. I have spent the last four years trying to overcome my fear so as to not make ds afraid of what I think is a wonderful animal.

I had a GSD who I loved to pieces but when I was bitten by another GSD my mum re-homed my beautiful dog . Since I was bitten I have come along way I now own a Labrador I have not since being bitten come face to face with a pure breed GSD my friend has a cross who I am ok with now. However I would like to take what I believe is the final step and meet a GSD.

So was wondering if any mnetters had the time patience and dog to help me take this final step. Or know of a way I can meet the said dog with groups or training clubs or other such events.

I live in Wales near Cardiff.

Sorry, can't help as I'm miles away, but didn't want your post to go unanswered.

Just to say I have a German Shepherd and she is the soppiest dog ever so I'm glad you haven't given up on the breed.

Well done for getting this far with your fear.

I remember my own dog and trusting him 100% and sleeping by his side so I know they can be a great dog, don't think I will get back to that but I don't believe in breed prejudice so would really like to get to know some, Thanks for answering I am hoping that someone lives near by.

What a shame you're in Wales, not that I've anything against Wales, indeed my DH comes from Llantwij Major ... it's just that a good friend of ours has the most beautifully tempered GSD and would have been perfect. We're in Barnet, Herts/N London so a looooong way from S Wales! Good luck - hopefully someone can help.

And I'm in SE England too, with my veeerrry soppy GSD.

I wonder, might it be worth posting on the BigGSD website forum? Or emailing Many Tears Rescue in (beautiful) Llanelli, who may be able to point you in the right direction?

Thanks Valhalla I will try those . I am sure no one could have anything against Wales except a certain teenage girl who lived in the country with the nearest town/cinema/person being a 30 min drive away .

slushy - I have the soppiest 14month old GSD, but I am in SE England too.

Good for you trying to do something to get over your fear.
