Dog - Had general anaesthetic today....

My dog had a GA earlier on to have an endoscopy in his nose and throat. But now he barely has a bark, snoring really badly and walking ultra slow.( He's 14).

I'm fairly certain that all the above are symptoms quite normal bearing in mind what he's had done, however what else should I be looking for?

Am bit worried and he's never had to have anything done before.

My 9yr old dog had GA on wednesday last wk to have tooth removed and only started barking again properly yesterday!

He was up for walks the day after but took to his bed for ages afterward and was whinging and tired for a good 3-4 days.

Still not totally back to his normal self but getting there.

Hope yours is back to normal soon.

Is he able to breath ok when awake? If not then please call your vet now for advice. If it is just snoring and losing his voice then likely to be expected given what has been done. You can help by getting him to swallow a little water now and again. A ball of cotton wool soaked in water and squeezed out into his gums/mouth will make him swallow a little and just keep things moist while the inflammation from the tubes and investigations settles a bit in the next day or two.

Hope he is ok - did they get any answers after the investigations?

He is breathing fine when awake, and seems to be drinking little and often. I've given him some milk this morning as he loves that. Am also giving him small meals, he's a sensitive soul.

Re the investigations, we got told he had a nerve disorder, no real treatment for it. Come back if it gets worse!
