help choosing our puppy tomorrow

we are due to pick our pup tomorrow from a litter of 7 (only 4 males left) springer spaniels , the pups are only 3 weeks old & i think are too young to be able to see how placid they will be etc but Dh & ds are worried that if we wait another couple of weeks all pups will be sold . so any tips on which pup to pick ? Any advice on this breed also would be great thanks .

I read that you shouldn't get the puppy that walks up to you from the litter, as they are like to be the pack leader. Better to get one of the 'lower ranking' pups if you want a easier life!

I thought you weren't meant to take them from their mothers until they are 6 weeks? Can you pick the one you like and ask them to look after him until he is a bit older?

thanks sarfeasticated , we are just going to see the pups tomorrow (its a two hour drive away) to put a deposit down on a pup but wont be collecting him until he is 8weeks old . thanks for the tip

Oooo you're going for it Elmo! Springer's can be a handful! You going to train them with a dog school type thing

yep ds is very excited , we will be keeping dd off school tomorrow as she was very sickly during last night but seems to be a little better today (no sleep until 3am) & ds has a day off from school as its "an in- service day" So dh thinks we should go put down a deposit on pup , but they are only 3weeks old so it'll be hard not to want them all

the evil side of DH reckons if pup annoys certain neighbours it wont be the worst thing in the world .

Hows your LO's ? are they in better form today ? this heat must be very uncomfortable for them . I'm going stir crazy being stuck in doors all weekend .
