dog bleeding from her lady dog bits...

I've just found out that my dog is bleeding a bit from her lady dog bits, well I think so - I'm not too sure on dog anatomy, but it's not where the poo comes out

She's 13 and has been spayed since before her first season. It's not bright red but sort of raspberry coloured and I think there's some mususcy stuff too. Not lots, just lots of blobs.

Apart from the bleeding she seems fine, had her walk as normal. Seems to be constipated though which isn't like her.

I've booked the vet for this morning, but am trying not too google before then. Can anyone reassure me that there's something non serious that causes this?

thanks

Could be cystitus (sp?) which would just be a course of anti-biotics.

Keeping fingers crossed for you.

well the vet says she's definately got an infection, either somewhere in the urinary tract or in her girlie bits so she's on antibiotics and antiinflamitories for that

the highlight of today though was getting a wee sample from the dog

vet wanted to check for cancer cells in her wee as there may be a tumour in her bladder / urinary system

cancer is possible as she's a very lumpy dog and has breathing problems too due to heart murmur (that we knew about before)

Hope she's ok Becky.

Great fun collecting wee samples. You have my sympathy!
