Bathing a cat, wtf?

I have just seen someone's pictures of their cats on FB with the caption "after his first bath"
It's never crossed my mind to bath our cat and she's 2.
Am I wrong to think you're not supposed to do this? Or is my cat just scanky?

My cat is safe from baths (and me too!)

Catinthehat2, could you PLEASE send some sort of cat memo to that effect to my Cat2, he is interfering with teeth cleaning with his basin-inhabiting habits.

Plus, did you know, if you turn a tap on HARD when there is a cat in the washbasin, the cat is rendered completely waterproof, and the water bounces up and sprays the entire bathroom?

Have never bathed either of our cats, but they are both obsessed with water. The older one likes to sit on the edge of the bath with his tail dangling in the water (doesn't seem to bother him at all) and one of them (I think the younger one but we've never witnessed it so not sure) likes to climb/fall into the toilet at night and then leave muddy paw prints all around the toilet bowl, sink and bath. Very odd.

Wouldn't like to try bathing them on purpose tho - they are like bags of swords, the pair of them.

I think you are living under a sad misapprehension. You clearly have one of these.

Tut!

THough I did have a waterproof cat who used to sit in the front garden in the rain glaring at passersby. SHe was very greasy and the water used to go into balls on her coat until she shook them off. Weirdo freak.

My black cat Lola fell into a bath when she were a lass - she was trying to bat the drips from the tap and she slipped! She flew out as if on invisble springs If Fat Cat did that all the water would leave the bath.

Nah, the other cat thinks he's a dog. Waterproof cat is just, well, waterproof.

My cat loves the water ... not to bathe in put to play with! But then again he is just odd!

I fill the sink up with water, and he will happily "paddle" one paw in the water as we would to mix hot and cold.

I am not kidding when I say he will spend hours doing this

Like emsyj, he will sit watching me in the bath, dip his paw in once in a while and swish the water with his tail
