Nervous cat anyone?

We have 2 cats about 1 year old give or take a month, got them about 9 months ago.

We had hoped to not have a nervous cat, our last cat was sensitive - wouldn't go out without us, terrified of other cats, clingy, always following us around the house etc - but it appears that one of our cats is turning out a bit sensitive now. She wails at us constantly, if we walk near her she runs off as if we're going to hurt her, she runs away from anyone who isn't family even when they visit frequently etc This is not a major problem but was wondering if we can do anything to help her be less nervy. When we had our last cat we were a lot younger and didn't think much about it but as she aged she got a lot worse (especially the wailing!). This one also seems to be getting more and more nervous (we have a DD age 6)

The other cat is fine, quite frisky and fun though has a tendency to attack (playfully) the nervy one who spits at her and runs off.

Is there anything anyone has done to help their nervy cat or do we have to accept her the way she is? She tries to get into our bedroom frequently but I have to take her out due to the hairs

I think there is this thing called Feliway that you plug in - a cat hormone that is meant to make them feel safe and secure. Have heard that it works well but have not tried it myself. HTH

Feliway works very well, ime.

However, one of our cats is very much like yours and we have come to accept that's just the way she is.

At one point we thought about rehoming her as we were worried that having two young-ish DCs in the house was too much for her. We thought she might be happier in a quieter household. However, our tom cat went missing for 4 days and she just pined and pined for him It was clear that they have such a strong bond that we had to keep them together. So she is still with us and seems happy enough ........even with the more recent addition of the mad vizla pup
