A lovely bonus for having guinea pigs

GPs spend most of the day in the moveable run

The little birds, chaffinches, blue tits, great tits and robins are collecting the guinea pig hair from the garden to make their nests
They look like they have whiskers with the hair in their beaks.

Since getting our gps about a month ago, we now have a robin, who sits on their run, chatting away to them. He seems to really want to be their friend, and they are not bothered in the slightest by him.

Our robins do that as well

Oh that is so sweet! Why don't ours get birds?
Mind you we have had a sparrowhawk. it flew off carrying pigeon so perhaps I should be grateful we still have the guinea pigs at all!

btw my first thought from your thread title was 'gosh, have they laid an egg?'

We have always had a fair amount of birds in our garden as I feed them and the cat has no chance of catching them, but we have noticed a slight increase. The piggies are uninterested.

Our pigs have been in their swanky new hutch all day. They have not ventured into the living area more than once, which I believe was an attempt to get their celery from last night.

They seem to prefer sitting in the sleeping compartment getting overweight.

We have always had lots of birds, but they always stayed up in the trees, but now they come down to get the hair for the nests.

Samantha our GPs like twilight best of all, they really come out to play then and have a good chase around the pen. Our long haired one will sit on the roof of their shelter at that time of night as well.

I just remembebered we did have baby birds last year. DH took down nest box from the tree to clean it out. He left it on the table next to our back door. I started seeing great tits flying right past the door. They nested in the box and weren't worried about us at all. We think there were 8 or 9 chicks in all
