  1. what do you do with yours? (i.e. the stuff in your garden/back yard)

  2. how many 'offerings' does your dog produce each day.

Only asking because my two seem to have about 7 poos a day between them and I'm wondering if this is normal.

Scoop them into carriers, double bag and then into the normal bin liners and the wheelie bin.

A lot. I have never actually counted how many though, but he 'produces' on each of his three walks per day and we still have 'offerings' daily in the yard.

My labrador has about 4 poohs a day.

WE scoop bag and bin.

iggypiggy · 07/05/2010 14:43

I know this prob sounds obvious - but it really does depend on what you feed them!

Mine does about 3 or 4 a day - one first thing - 1 or 2 on the daytime walks and one in the evening.

My dog is fed Raw food tho - so poos are smaller and less of them cos they use so much more of the food. If you dog is fed something which means alot goes undigested - you will then have more...

2 a day each and scoop put into dog loo in garden and it composts into the ground.

They poo in the garden before we go on walks so no need to poop and scoop and carry bags of poo on the walk!

Smalldog does 2 a day. one in the morning, one evening. Bigdog goes once a day but in about 6 different places, over about 5 minutes.

they normally do the evening one during their walks and hopefully in the wild bit (really wild middle of nowhere) so it doesn't get collected.
any done in the garden gets shovelled up and into a bag before putting in the wheely.

what a topic .

My 2 giant large dogs produce 2 a day, sometimes 3.

We scoop and bin it, used to have a dog bin but never really worked it out so it was effective!

newpup · 07/05/2010 16:47

My 2 year old lab does 2 a day. One while we are on a walk. Which of course I bag and bin , usually after carrying around for miles!!!

The other is a first thing in the morning offering so is in the garden. I bag in doggy bag and put in wheelie bin!

My friend flushes down the loo but there is no way I could do that! Urrrrgh!

What a topic

Springer, one per day generally (more if he has eaten something he shouldn't).

He won't poo in our garden unless it is a dire emergency. He can hold it in for hours if need be. He poos out on walks. I put it into a poo bin on gbe way home.
If he pooed in garden i'd double bag it and stick it in our wheelie bin.

Both go first thing before breakfast, then again on the lunchtime walk. Puppy (actually not so much of a puppy now) goes again after supper; older girl hangs on until morning. She has bowels I could set clocks by, touch wood.

We have two plastic bins front and back of house; empty both once a week and put out with rubbish.

I can sympathise with the poo scrutiny thing; the puppy has had colitis type symptoms on and off since a bout of campylobacter before Christmas, and now I can identify a whole range of texture and smell...

clothhanky · 07/05/2010 17:06

Have a jack russell who I swear does at least 6 a day, and a border collie who struggles to do one, won't do it while being watched, has to be in certain spots etc. We have a really shiny, snazzy lidded red tin bin by the front door, which everyone admires but is actually where we put the bags of dog poo until bin day when we hide it in the middle of a black bin bag.

Southwestwhippet · 07/05/2010 17:06

's good isn't it?

I just can't get over the amount of poo my dogs produce but looks as if it is normal.

I put them in a bag and take them to the tip (or put out with the rubbish).

My dog poo's once or twice a day.

MrsL123 · 07/05/2010 19:47

My two labs each go once before their morning walks (can't waste good walk time pooing!), and when we come home at lunch there's normally two more in the garden. Then they'll each do another one after their dinner in the evening - so that's six a day. We get poo bags free from our local council and always have loads of them, so the poos just get bagged up and put in the wheelie bin (after being thoroughly scrutinised for firmness and texture, of course!). We poo-pick every morning, at lunch and then after work - usually we'll see them doing it so it'll get bagged straight away (unlike my neighbours who also have two big labs and their garden is full of crap all the time). Luckily their poos are great since we started feeding them Arden Grange and Nature Diet - really firm and small, and easy to pick up (and not as smelly). One of the dogs used to suffer with colitis, so you can imagine what it was like trying to pick that up before breakfast!!!

assumpta · 10/05/2010 08:18

Is it okay to put dog poo in an ordinary rubbish bin?

MmeLindt · 10/05/2010 08:22

Generally one poo a day, on the way to school in the morning. Scoop using doggy poo bags that the council provide, bin.

Occasionally she will go in the garden, but generally in the hedge at the end of the garden. I do a garden poo sweep a couple of times a week, or before the DC go out in it.

She does dainty wee poos though, so it is not really a problem to clear up (although they are hard to find)
