I found a stray cat asleep on my bed today...

This is the latest of a mini cat invasion of my house in the last few weeks. We have two lovely lovers not fighters of cats, but I can count at least four different cats who I have found in my kitchen helping themselves to their food. One, the other day, wandered into the lounge, had a look around and left again.
The stray asleep on my bed is a new one.

We have tried taking the food up during the day - this becomes a problem if we are away all day and evening as our cats go hungry.

I have now ordered a magnetic cat flap and collars -

this all means I am going to have to leave all my downstairs windows shut from now on doesn't it? This is annoying, esp in the summer. Unless there is another deterrent someone knows about? And does anyone know why we have become a cat drop in centre????!!!!

PS I say strays but at least three of them have collars and I know where they live: they are obv well cared for, so not feral.

Your house is obviously very attractive to cats and your own cats are clearly very sociable and enjoy getting to know the neighbours

I very much suspect my cats do this to others (I know for certain one does, he used to regularly wander into my friends house and make himself comfy).

I can see it would get a bit annoying though. Hope the new cat flap will sort it for you.

Sometimes I think the neighbourhood cats talk amongst themselves...

My daughter found an enormous fat cat eating our cats food in our kitchen this morning. Apparently he watched him through the glazed kitchen door, he caught sight of her, weighed her up for a moment and then carried on eating.

I've been wondering for the past week or so now how on earth my own cats were getting through so much food!

Sorry, I meant, "..she watched him through the glazed kitchen door..."

Blimey, what are you feeding them, salmon?!
