Should dogs smell after washing??

Possibly a very silly question, but I've just given my 6month old pup a bath as he was a bit stinky after a few days at the farm (washed him with shampoo and warm water) but he still smells kind of hot and whiffy (he's not dry yet) - is that normal? Please tell me he'll dry to a sparkly, laundry-fresh finish !

There is no smell as bad as wet dog he should smell better when he has dried as long as you keep him out of his bed otherwise the bed will stink.

Until he goes to park and rolls in fox poo to try and get his nice dirty smell back!
