My mum's puppy came today, it is a 9week cav king charles since arriving it has had all of his toilets outside even crying at the back door to go out he has not jumped up once. He has not mouthed at all. He was perfectly happy to eat and my little girl had some of her toys out when the puppy came in which he ignored and went to pick up his own toy. He has not cried except for when he saw the crate which I don't get as the breeders kept him in a crate.

Is this normal for this breed and am I just used to a lab or has my mum landed the best behaved dog ever.

He sounds brilliant! One of our dogs is a CKCS and he's just the sweetest dog you could ever meet.

How are things now that your Mum has had him a few days?

Still going great he is even gentle with my 9 month baby. I am in awe he is so different from my lab ckcs is sweet and cuddly (my sis called him teddy and it really suits him) where my lab is energetic and bouncy.

The odd pee mostly if he is trying to go to the toilet and one of the kids call him(which we are trying to stop) The odd mouthing maybe once a day but we do the yelp and he calms down. I was constantly nipped when my boy was a puppy. They definately seem to be a low maintenance dog .

Thanks for asking after him. I am amazed for the first time I am telling and reassuring my mum who has never owned a dog.

Glad to hear he's still a joy.

Our CKCS was called Teddy (We got him when he was two. Ex-stud dog we think. He'd never lived in a house before so couldn't walk up or down stairs or walk on a lead and wasn't housetrained) but we changed it to Freddy as I knew I'd embarrass myself by calling him Teddy Bear. As it is I call him Freddy Fruitcake so I still sound like a complete wally when we're out.

Glad to hear you're dealing with the mouthing. One of our neighbour's dogs still does it but now there's added teeth. Not nice. A shame they didn't manage to stop her when she was a pup.

Good to hear as we're getting a CKCS in four weeks when he is old enough to come home!

EccentricaGallumbits · 28/04/2010 17:43

it won't last. mother has one and he's mental. cute and nice but mental.

slushy06 · 28/04/2010 18:06

Druidmama He so far seems really easy going and well behaved so hopefully yours will be the same.
EccentricaGallumbits I keep enviously telling myself the same thing but so far he just seems to be improving and getting better behaved.
Amandoh I have been laughing about the name I wouldn't fancy calling him that but it is better than what the owners were calling him they named him double diamond because of two diamond shaped white bits but shortened it to double d which I was sniggering about my mum quite a busty woman calling up the park.
