Ok only one sleep till Cherry the 8 week old border terrier comes. I have booked her in for her injections on monday, now do I get wormer from the vet then, or do I get it from the pet shop, and what sort do I need and how often?
I think we have everything else ready although I am starting to get really nervous.
Also we are getting her in the evening, anyone have any ideas about the best way to settle her for her first night. I was thinking I would sleep downstairs on the sofa just so I am near by.
God this is as bad as my pfb was. I am so excited though trying to stay clam as I have 2 days of boring work to get through first.

Never buy from pet shop. Only buy from the vets or a vetpharmacy shop online with proper brands.
I have never stayed downstairs with puppies.

Wormer from vet check what the breeder has given them and maybe if a good wormer use that is not adverse reactions.

Is it possible to get the puppy earlier in the day as they will settle better if they have been with you longer?

I try to get all dogs early in the day to give them a day to settle before the long night when I put them in their cage and leave until morning.

unfortunatly I have to get her this evening as I am at work this afternoon, grrr. I am happy to stay up with her all night if need be. we should be home about 8 so at least it will still be light to show her round the garden etc. I think I will need to put a collar on her, will this upset her if she hasn't already had one on?

Some dogs take to collars really easily and others hate them! I would not do it on the first day - give time to settle in a bit. Then pop it on just before the puppy is feed and then take it off afterwards do this for a few days and depending on reaction the pup should be ok to wear it more. Never ever leave a pup unsupervised in a crate with a collar on.

If you are getting the pup late then it may be an idea to sleep next to it but do crate it and do not take any notice whinning. You can just put a hand out to reasure now and then put do not react to whining. Second night put in crate and go to you bed and harden you heart!

Do enjoy it it is a lovely time and goes so quickly
