Our Rabbits...

hi

we have 2 male rabbits, brothers, always been together. they were one year old on good friday!

one seems more dominant, probably normal. but the second rabbit has a few scabs from bites. so i've split them up!!also, dominant one is larger and very healthy looking, very tame and sweet.....other one is smaller, but still tame, and seems to look for his brother when split up

is this right? what should we do? they dont have a run, they just hop around our garden, which is fully enclosed. they are going out few hours at a time at the moment, not together tho

whats the right thing to do?

Are they neutered? If not, get them done asap - unneutered males can be come quite aggressive as they mature, especially if living with another male, and it will only get worse unfortunately. It'll take a few weeks for their hormones to subside once they've been done, but after that you should be able to reintroduce them to eachother and, fingers crossed, they will get along a bit better. In the meantime keep them separated to avoid any fights (they do hold grudges!) but put their hutches facing each other if possible, so they still see each other every day - this will really help with the reintroductions.
