|By my reckoning o before I smy cat will be having her kittens any day now and I am starting to get a bit freaked. Maybe flahbacks to when my DS was born. I would be grateful for any advice or even a graphic description. What if one of the kittens gets stuck or she can't cope. I really am clueless so before I start boiling water and getting clean towels organised please help !

Hello, Four of my cats have had kittens and same as with ourselves four very different experiences
Three of them pretty much got on with it and had no problems.
One had a hard time of it, one of the kittens had got stuck as it was breech, she kept pushing some of the kitten out then it would slip back inside.
got the disposable gloves on,got some vaseline and the next time some of the kitten appeared I got a hold of it and helped ease it out, there was a bit of blood loss from my cat but she seemed ok,phoned the vet afterwards and said just to keep an eye on her.

I hope this hasnt freaked you out further,it will be fine, just phone the vet if you think your cat is in any distress.good luck

Hi Girny

my cat is due in a few weeks (although she's already eyeing up nesting areas I think!!)

From when my maine coon had her litter it was as superflousbuns said 3 of hers - quite straight forward. I think nature is kinder to other animals than she is to us (our babies have great big heads to push out!!) cats seem to be able to get on with it

If you are having flashbacks to your own experience would ithelp for you to talk to someone? I dont' want to interfere but I had a traumatic birth with my eldest and suffered terrible flashbacks and maybe your cats pregnancy has triggered something? have a look at the birth trauma association website maybe? ther's lots of great support there.

I'm looking forward to hearing about your new kittens when they arrive - you'll have to pass me some tips, its been a while since we've had a preggy cat!!
