Hello, me again needing more advice . I have ordered a new tank for our fish which I am going to put through a fishless cycle as per your advice - the link you put on the other thread was really helpful. Can you recommend a good (but not too expensive) water testing kit? Thanks in advance!

Morning!

Loads of people rave about the API master test kit but I've never used it myself. I've got the Hagen nutrafin one which works fine for me. You won't need the massive one that tests for everything unless you are a total geek like me so a mini master kit will do fine. You need to be able to test for ammonia, nitrIte, nitrAte and pH at the very least. The dipstick tests are a bit crap.

Ebay's probably one of the cheapest places to get test kits- API kit

One thing you need to be aware of is that some of the tests (especially the nitrAte one) goes off after a while and it won't give an accurate result if it's gone off. You'll be able to tell though and it does take a year or so for it to be no good.
