Oh crap. the hamster appears to have died

The kids will be very upset and at least one, maybe 2 of the children will cry. Help me deal with this please. They are 4, 6 and 9.

We still have a cat, 2 guinea pigs, a snail and a few fish.

I went to the pet shop this morning and really wanted a female syrian but my heart was ruling my head so I came home with nothing.

I think it´s fine that you left it tbh.

It´s not as if there is nothing to look after.

She was so funny though. I left her trying to climb up to sit on the water bottle.

I threw out the cage today.

Feels very strange without her.

I did go to the pet shop and saw a hamster I wanted but didn't get her. Wish I had now of course. Binned the cage as the tube had been taped together and syrian's have very sharp teeth..

I told DH about the hamster I saw and he said to wait until after our holiday.

Resurrecting this thread as my hamster died yesterday. My DS is dyslexic and so upset - he has written her a note to tell her he loves her and I hope Fabs DS doesn't mind but the little poem he wrote was so touching when I read it back in March I came to find it. Have posted it on my blog with a picture of Dora the hamster. Link is here. Thank you Fab's DS for writing such lovely words - I couldn't top it for our little hammie.
