New cat has sticky eye

We got a 6 month old rescue cat 7 days ago. Its fully innoculated.

Today its not really opening its right eye and the eye is very sticky. I've bathed it with cooled, boiled water and the inner rims of the eyelid look pinker than the other eye. Also do cats have some sort of "second, inner" eye lid? Cos it looked like there was another eyelid in the eye at the bottom which looked a bit swollen.

She was fine this morning, seems to have happened very quickly. Vets is shut now but do I need to take her in tommorrow or do I keep bathing it for a few days and see how it goes?

Oh and as well as being vaccinated she's had a blood test for all sorts of things inc Chlamydia and FIV and was neg to those.

I'd check with the vet, but meanwhile, cold tea is very good for sore eyes. Used to use it on my sticky-eyed persians all the time.

Thanks, it looks a lot better today.

Will mention it to the vet though, have got to go there today - think the dog has broken her leg. Appt in an hour.
