Why does my cat keep doing this?

I have to leave things on the sofa where I want to sit or else she sits there. She should know by now it is my side. This morning I am sat there and she is looking up for somewhere to sit so I move my things and tell her there is room. She jumps up, walks over to me and sits down right on top of my lap top . She keeps doing it.

Mine love the laptop. I think it's an irresistable combination for them. One, sitting on it stops me doing something that interferes with my ability to stroke/feed/coo over them (even if they want none of these things doing) - compare sitting on the newspaper, batting at pens etc. Two, it's warm and it purrs, mm!

Well my 6 month old hand reared ginger nut is currently sitting on my head - it's about the only place he isn't in the way when I'm typing.......

You have cats and your own seat in the house? Don't you know that everywhere in the house belongs to the cat and you must only sit where they allow it

FabIsDoingPrettyWell · 12/03/2010 11:45

I have kept telling her it is my seat...

Sorry you clearly have the dynamic wrong here. You are staff and you are having the audacity to sit in the bosses seat.
I recently appear to have purchased a new sofa so that my cats have one each to lie on.

You've probably seen this, but it made me laugh - alot!

Dog's diary:
8:00 am - Dog food! My favorite thing!
9:30 am - A car ride! My favorite thing!
9:40 am - A walk in the park! My favorite thing!
10:30 am - Got rubbed and petted! My favorite thing!
12:00 pm - Lunch! My favorite thing!
1:00 pm - Played in the yard! My favorite thing!
3:00 pm - Wagged my tail! My favorite thing!
5:00 pm - Milk bones! My favorite thing!
7:00 pm - Got to play ball! My favorite thing!
8:00 pm - Wow! Watched TV with the people! My favorite thing!
11:00 pm - Sleeping on the bed! My favorite thing!

Cat's diary:
Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now...

My cat loves dh's laptop and gets in to bed with me. I quite like that - however at 3am this morning she decide to nibble my toes which I have indicated was not welcome!

She has never been a lap cat really though when I was pregnant with DC1 she was always wanting to be as close to me as she could. Fair freaked me out when she did it a few months ago too .

She could just be making her displeasure known at me sitting in her my seat or maybe she loves me .

I can't help worrying she is doing it because she isn't well.

Cats are timeshare creatures. They have spots they occupy at different times. The couch is the cat's preferred spot for that certain time of the day, which may well be all day. Your cat thinks you must be a complete idiot not to have found another place for yourself for that particular time slot

FabIsDoingPrettyWell · 12/03/2010 17:14

LOL

I can definitely tell what time of day it is by where she is sleeping.

She is now next to me on the sofa and I am in my spot.

If I'm in bed any later than 8 am, mine bothers me until I leave the bed to her.

Ours uses our alarm as well - signal for breakfast! Thankfully dd1 usually gets up first so she does it - otherwise somebody walks on my head!
