Poppy's dad is dying so she needs a home...

... she sleeps with his slipper all the time.

Be prepared to sob.

If anyone is considering owning a dog please consider Poppy

The rescue is in Sussex and although the website states that they don't normally rehome outside the area owing to the need for a homecheck and continued rescue back-up I may be able to assist in obtaining these for an owner who lives elsewhere. If you're interested but not in Sussex please contact me here so I can help with this before you contact the rescue.

Would love to take her- but sadly Dp won't let me have another dog

I hope she finds a loving home soon

southeastastra · 11/03/2010 08:09

what a sad looking doggy hope she finds somewhere lovely

morethanyoubargainfor · 11/03/2010 08:13

she is the spitting image of my friends dog, molly who is also a lurcher, deerhonund ggreyhound X.

I wouldo love to offer poppy a home but i would have to rehome DH first!

Bumping for you anyway and hop she finds a home soon.

30andLurking · 11/03/2010 08:39

Oh that's so sad, but adorable.

I'm out of your area, but now I really want to home Todd! Hope they both find new families soon.

Iklboo · 11/03/2010 08:43

She is the spitting image of my old girl who died on Tuesday, except my girl was 'red fawn' colour. I'm sorry I'm not in Sussex.
Ladies - I really would recommend this type of dog. They're very gentle, loving & sweet natured.

Notalone · 12/03/2010 09:00

Oh god - I really feel for poor Poppy and reading about her made me cry. Has she found a new home yet? I live in Yorkshire and can't afford another dog but I really would if I had the money, space and lived back in Sussex where I come from Please keep us updated

wannaBe · 12/03/2010 09:05

Iklboo op says they'll consider rehoming out of the area in this case.

Did would hit the roof if I brought home any more animals so sadly can't help.

Amapoleon · 12/03/2010 09:15

Aaah, she looks so sad and dejected. I really wish I could rehome her but I have two rescue dogs already. I'm not showing my dd or she will be straight down there. She's always bringing home strays.

nappyzonecantrunfortoffee · 12/03/2010 09:28

bumping because it made me cry - she looks adorable - sadly i am allergic to doggys.

BratleyBackToNormal · 15/03/2010 13:01

Oh I wish I could help

Bumping.

sb6699 · 15/03/2010 13:23

Keeping this bumped - she looks so sad.

Unfortunately, my dog is proving a handful so couldnt have any more until he is a bit older.

Hope someone can help.

Sherida · 19/03/2010 16:35

Not much of a dog lover but this one looked so sad it made even ME cry! Further bump and hope this one finds a home. DH would love a dog but DD is only 2 and we're considering another one or I may have caved in on my "no dogs" policy.

BUMP.

OrmRenewed · 19/03/2010 16:38

We CANNOT have a dog We cannot have a dog! We cannot have a dog

blijemuts · 23/03/2010 17:02

Valhalla,any news on Poppy?

Joolyjoolyjoo · 23/03/2010 17:05

Sorry- nowhere near and have 2 crazy (if elderly) beagles. Hope she gets a home soon. Could you get the local press to do a wee piece on her? Always seems to work round here!

Notalone · 23/03/2010 17:09

Please come back and update us. She keeps playing on my mind and I would love to hear she has a lovely new home. I would second Joolyjoolyjoo - she would be spoilt for choice if you could arrange this

Vallhala · 23/03/2010 21:50

Hi Notalone. I'm not involved with Allsorts Rescue apart from to occasionally receive an appeal for help from them or to request their assistance so I've not got a finger on their pulse so to speak. A look at their website indicates that Poppy's been rehomed - I've mailed Allsorts to ask and will report back asap, promise.

PLEASE NOTE - just because I don't have close links with Allsorts doesn't mean that I be unable to arrange a homecheck upon someone out of their area (provided that Allsorts gave their consent to an out of area rehome of course). On the contrary, it means that because I have contacts in rescue and animal welfare and rights across the country I can generally find someone to help whereas rescues themselves often either don't have the contacts in many places outside of their area or just don't have the time to arrange it all.

Essentially, if it involves rescue and you think I may be able to suggest a contact or liaise with rescue, just ask, and if I can help I will.

Ah - thanks Vallhala. I will keep my fingers crossed she is now residing in her lovely new home. I am a volunteer dog walker at my loal rescue so see dogs in sorry states all the time but Poppy and her slipper really got to me
