Taking Lola to a puppy class in an hour for some socialisation, she gets so excited meeting other dogs, hope she doesn't get put in "time out" on her first day!

Has anyone else used puppy classes?

Oh, I remember them well! We didn't do it with our new dog because she was well socialised with our older dog and the dogs she met on her walks, but we went religiously with the other one.

Two things I can guarantee:

  1. There will be at least one dog so unbelievably badly behaved that it will make Lola look like an angel.

  2. You will get a headache from all the yapping puppies!

T'is fun though

I really want to take my puppy to classes but I am worried he will be that really naughty puppy you describe.

My nephew asked if the dog had ADHD recently when he dog sat for me. He said he can't sit still at all. Slight exageration but I know what he means.

Hope the class goes well.

Well! That was an experience!
Trainer did a talk then it was time to let the dogs off to play, I was really worried about this part, Lola is a Staffordshire bull terrier so very strong and very bouncy!

She did really well, once she had calmed down a little and the other dogs had chance to get a look in with her she played wonderfully

She made a friend, the smallest pup there with the biggest personality, a little terrier!

kid definately give it a go, the trainer was explaining this evening just how important early socialisation is for them, it won't be as bad as you think!

Glad to hear it went well, izzybiz . Ruby and I are off to our first class on Saturday I can't wait!

My puppy is 4 1/2 months now, is that still a good time to take him?
He has socialised with loads of other dogs and bounces around with them.

I would really love to be able to let him off his lead in a park, but I don't trust him one bit. He would run off and there are no secure parks or places in general where we could contain him.

Sounds like your class went well, both you and pup had fun!

whats the average cost of the classes?
I have seen some for £120 for 6 weeks (1 hour sessions)
£90 for 6 weeks (1 hour sessions)
and £20 for 4 x 1 hour sessions

I am guessing that the £20 one is not going to be good as cheapest is often not the best. I don't mind paying £90 if thats the going rate for London.
