I am cooking rib of beef for sunday supper. Can Ruby have the rib once we are done? She is now 10 weeks old....if that makes a difference

No - never ever cooked bones! Cooking them makes them brittle and they splinter and can cause fatal internal injuries.

Get her a raw beef marrowbone from your butcher

Thanks Bella. I thought it was better for them to be raw but always good to check

You're very welcome

Just to hijack (!), is it ok to give them raw beef ribs, bella?

Try as I might, I can't get a butcher to provide me with marrow bones, so am wondering what I can get in Morrisons that will be suitable for them to munch on! I've tried chicken wings but they didn't like them (and I heard supermarket chicken was a salmonella risk?), but they do beef and lamb ribs.

oh MrsL i am so glad to see a post from you i was started to wander if the ND wall had collapsed on you .

MrsL123 · 28/02/2010 18:07

No, still alive! It didn't end up as so much of a wall in the end, I was very pleased to see each case was in it's own individual little box, so I was able to stack them into the cupboard under the stairs and just open the top box of each flavour

Have a warm fuzzy feeling every time I open the cupboard - especially as my fridge is currently empty apart from a jar of pickled onions and some tomato sauce - it's nice to know the dogs are fed, at least!

MrsL as Bella hasn't answered - I thought I would!

Beef ribs are fine - mine also gets marrow bones, chicken wings, pork ribs, lamb ribs, goat bones etc etc. pretty much anything...
