Does anyone have Animal Friends Pet Insurance?

I'm thinking of changing my pet insurance to them - they come up with a much lower quote than my present insurer (Lloyds) and seem to cover all the things I need. Never heard of them though and wonder if they're OK?

Has anyone used them? Do they pay out promptly and easily if you make a claim?

Sorry, I don't have answers to your claims questions, but I too was lured by the lower quote, so have gone with them this year... I hope I don't have to find out if they're any good!
Would also be interested if anyone does have any experience of them though...

I've never heard of them but generally the main things to check are:

Amount of cover (and is it limited per claim, per illness or per year?).

Time limit of cover (e.g. first 12 months only, or the entire duration of the illness?).

Excess amount (and is it a fixed amount? Some make you pay a % of the claim on top).

Exclusions under the policy - especially the vet fees section.

Age limit on cover - some won't insure past a certain age.

Will they pay the vet direct?

Also check who underwrites their insurance (e.g. AXA) as this will give you a better idea of how reliable they are.

Yes, I do, have had them cover my cat since 2007! They are a private company and very helpful on the phone, yes, unlike past experiances with some insurers, they are easy to contact! Never needed to claim, but the cheapest quotes may be with other companies, we went with Animal Friends Pet Insurance because of the level of care the gave us. Its very good, and should we need to make a claim, they won't hike our cover the next year. They aslo have a great website with useful information about looking after your pet, so I guess I trusted them most too. All the best, Jacques
