White Boxer bitch. 5 & 1/2 years old. Last May discovered an ulcer in her eye, very painfull for her.Took her to vet who said it was too big for them and forwarded us to Newmarket Vets, specialist in all things. I took her to the lovely people in Newmarket straight away who said they must operate at once or she would lose her eye. They created a graft from lower down the same eye and patched her up. She was in agony from day one and she wasn't out of the woods for 4 months. Then, although she looked a mess, she was ok and her eye was saved. Tesco insurance covered the costs.

Now, the eye with the "Patch" looks like it has another ulcer coming and the "patch" looks like it will pop out. The insurance will no longer pay as it only covers one condition up to £2500 and the previous bill was just shy of that, we have no money. What are we going to do?

Hi Goober. I'm sorry to hear of your poor girls woes and your predicament. This is only the wildest of hopes that someone might be able to advise but may I please copy your post onto a dog rescue forum I'm a member of?

The rescue is not too far from Newmarket and they use the Animal Health Trust when necessary so they MIGHT have some suggestions for you.

I take it that you aren't in receipt of the appropriate benefits which would permit you to use the RSPCA or PDSA?

As I said, I am grasping at straws here but with your permission I'll certainly try.

Thanks.

No benefits.

Today it is no worse, but no better either. Will get her to the vet tomorrow if no change.

I would get her to the vet asap anyway, Goober: ulcers can often be treated simply and cheaply if caught early enough.

Best of luck.
