Supervision, supervision, supervision.

It is normal for puppies to chew, but I haven't had anything chewed by a pup for years. Chewing is not only a pain for you, but also dangerous for the puppy.

I would crate train the pup and unless you can supervise 100%, pop the pup in the crate. That said, you can't just not supervise and crate the pup for hours, but it comes in handy at times when you're getting the children ready for school or bed etc and once pup is used to being left alone for short periods, when you go out too. Not sure how old your pup is, but it will also help with toilet training.

When you're there, if the pup starts to chew something that isn't his, just say a gentle 'no' or 'ah ah' and replace it with something the puppy is allowed to chew. He will eventually get the message about what you wanthim to chew and what you don't, but it takes quite a while.

puppy is 16 wks but a rescue dog so only got her 2 weeks ago. the toilet training was easy. I know she is getting bored because we cant take her out yet til monday when she has her jabs,it is impossible to supervise and play with her all the time, may have to start shutting her in kitchen when i am busy with other things, (i have pretty much dog proofed the kitchen as that is where she is when we are out)

Get her some rubber toys to chew like these, my dog also liked chewing up toilet roll tubes or hide treats around the house/room for her to find (too keep her busy).
