What do you do with guinea pigs when you go on holiday?

we have 2 gorgeous guinea pigs, they are about 2 years old now. We haven't had a holiday in the last few years so this hasn't been an issue before. In june we are going away for a week and really don't know what to do with them while we are away.

We have no family nearby and the few friends we have are also going to be away the same week (half-term) I am at a complete loss as to what to do with them.

DH seems to think we should just leave them a weeks worth of food and water and they'll be fine!!!!

When I was at our local city farm last week I noticed there was a boarding facility for guinea pigs. Charged £3.00 a day I think. Is there a city/community farm near you?

Memoo, where in the country are you. I'd look after them for you if you're close to Yorkshire.

I get a pet sitter in. We have cats, rabbits and birds as well as guinea pigs, so to find somewhere to 'board' them all would be a nightmare - not to mention expensive! My pet sitter charges £6 a day, for which she comes in, feeds and waters everyone and cleans out hutches half way through the week.

Hi

I have had the same issue, recently taken on 2 guinea pigs from someone and just booked our holiday. Don't know whereabouts in Cheshire you are, I am south manchester area and have booked them in at a local farm that does kennels/cattery/small animal boarding which is £5 a night for 2 sharing.
