I have had great success with those natural garlic-based granules (will look up later and come back to you) which are perfectly child safe. The alternative is a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil over their favourite poop spot. Cats cannot abide it.....neither can dogs.....and in those levels of concentration perfectly safe around children too. Just remember to keep the bottle out of reach once back inside. It may be natural but some essential oils are highly toxic and can kill if ingested (but you probably knew that ..... )

Give the kids water pistols to squirt from top windows. Very child friendly - they'll love it.
