Help! Cat Secretions? Am disgusted!

Our kitten is almost 5 months old (will be getting him neutered at the end of the month) and I have noticed on several occasions that when I have picked him up, there has been a disgusting smell on me (can only liken it to a sweaty bum smell not that I sniff many bums of course but I do have DCs!).

Earlier on I found him on DDs bed (am trying to stop him sleeping on beds) and I picked him up and took him out of her room. Then when I was showering the DSs, I noticed this bum smell and at first accused them on not wiping themselves and made them wash their bums twice then realised that the smell was on my cardigan and must have been from when I picked the cat up (did apologise to the DSs of course )!

This is not the first time either. He does not have an upset stomach and there is no mess on him and anyway it's not an actual pooh smell. Do they secrete something from their butt or something which he did to get back at me cos I woke him I wonder ?

Any ideas at it's rather boaky and I don't want him anywhere near me especially as I'm pregnant?? It is just me that he's done it to btw .

Anal glands...smell horrid, unless you are a cat I suppose?!

Animals never do things to get back at us, btw.

I used to have this problem with my girl kitten, also sometimes youd hld her and get a poo smear on your top[boak]

admittedly it got alot better when she got nearer a yr old.

def anal glands, they secrete when they poo to mark territory. he may have blocked anal glands, which can be emptied by vet or some people learn how to do it themselves. It is gross, don't youtube it!!!

Seriously, if they are blocked it will cause him alot of discomfort. Trip to vets imo, or ring them for advice.

Thanks Pirate. I will get him sorted.
Bella - the comment about him getting me back was tongue in cheek!
