Lab labour aftermath

Our lab had 3 pups. They seem fine and there are no more pups as far as I can ascertain but Katie oozing greenish black watery fluid. Is this normal? Pups suckling and Katie has eaten. She seems ok - if a bit shell shocked - although her tail hasn't wagged since labour began. Poor baby, I think she's horrified, traumatised even!!

How long ago did she had the last pup? Is she still panting? How long did it take her to deliver the three pups?

Three pups is not many for lab and having not seen her myself, if you are not experienced I think it would be worth calling out yor vet to check her over and make sure all is well and there are no more pups in her. If there are things could go wrong very quickly.

Bitches do have 'lochia' after pregnancy, but it really isn't worth taking any risks.

Congrats on your three pups!

Last one at 3pm. They are pretty big pups. She's our first lab but we bred corgis for years so not entirely inexperienced. Her first litter. Can feel nothing out of the ordinary when palpating her.
She's not panting, doesn't seem distressed in any way. Discharge seems to have almost stopped now.
Getting to a vet, or one here, will be nigh on impossible with all the snow and ice. So not our normal weather. And we live up a mountain too.
Not sure if its relevant but her dam always had small litters too. Breeder did think it might be the same for Katie.

Yes that green/black is normal. 3 is not many pups, but it is also possible that is all she had too. Any doubts call the vets for advice.

Ooh puppies. What colours? Photo link to mum and pups please (broody for another lab!)

Mum is chocolate and babies black. Will see if I can persuade a teenager to do photos, dear knows they've nothing else to be doing in this weather!!
Thanks for the reassurance ladies. I will keep a close eye on her. She seems brighter now and has eaten well.
