Just got boy guinea pig off DH to hold. GP immediately butted his head up and started crying and trying to get away. DH took him off me and is holding him and stroking him. He seems to have calmed down. Should I have persevered or is that unfair to stress him out?

maybe the smell of a cat of dog on your hands has sent him into a predator panic?

We have a cat, a hamster, a snail and some fish and the cat and I share the sofa so maybe piggy can smell the cat. I hadn't thought of that. They have seen each other but haven't had any interaction.

It sounds like your piggy has just smelt the cat. We've got dogs and cats so I'm always careful to wash my hands and then rub my hands in the piggy's bedding before picking her up, so I smell of her. Just remember to wash your hands afterwards lol!
