Do guinea pigs "fluff up" to keep warm?

Ever since it got cold, my indoor male guinea pigs have morphed into furbies. They used to be quite sleek, slim-line little things but now they just sit there looking like a ball of fluff seeming all depressed! they are in the cold porch. IS it because they're cold?

Probably although the only time I noticed one of mine fluffed out like that was because it was ill. But they do feel the cold, so you might want to warm them up.

It's called piloerection

One to drop into the conversation next time you're having tea with the vicar

I think that they probably are cold. Mine lives in the kitchen but I still give him a huge pile of hay - an edible duvet - which he huddles under and, during the cold weather, I replenish each night. I have also put an old bath towel under the cage as the floor can be quite cold. That seems to have helped as well.
