Hes at the PDSA now They are operating on him, DH said his back half is in a bad way, one lag very bad and possible pelvis injuries. They are X-raying.

I hpe he is ok, don't think I will get another cat afte this one ever, its too hard when this stuff happens.

That's good news

OrmIrian · 05/01/2010 11:13

Oh thank goodness!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/01/2010 11:19

Thats good news he may need to be caged to keep him quiet for a few days (they did this with a neighbours cat who despite first appearances and severe injuries made a a full and happy recovery) Worth stocking up on cat litter as he won't be going out for a while.

Brill

MarthaFarquhar · 05/01/2010 11:29

Wooooo! I am so relieved for you.

MeAndMyMonkey · 05/01/2010 11:31

poor thing, hope cat is ok. Mine had two broken legs after being run over, had to have one amputated but is completely fine 8 years later... they are very resilient.
He did have to have cage rest for a while though. Very upsetting, hope he pulls through.

Disenchanted3 · 05/01/2010 11:36

oh yes litter! lots of snow not sure how to get that- did big shop yesterday.

Got to find a way to collect him, MIL cant take us as her car is tiny and shes scared of getting stuck,

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/01/2010 11:42

I just carried 8l of clumping litter home 2 miles in my rcuksack. Thought I was going to have to just abandon it half way.

What about a taxi? bit tricky with the waiting while collecting him though unless its walkable one way?

Disenchanted3 · 05/01/2010 11:54

no, its miles away. down motorways.

will figure something out

Yippee! Not long now.

JollyPirate · 05/01/2010 12:16

Glad to hear his treatment has been successful. Hope he recovers well - cats become such a part of the family. I adore my cat - she is now an indoor cat as we are too near a road - she does not like this but I just think "I know the dangers and you don't puss".

piratecat · 05/01/2010 13:54

If you can't get litter today, you could shred up loads of newspaper to tide you over.

I am glad to hear he is coming home.

Disenchanted3 · 05/01/2010 14:09

I haven't even got a litter tray!

DH is on his way to get him now

Yippee. Let us know how he is.

The cat, not your DH.

Disenchanted3 - that's great news

If it helps, my tom got ran over last year - he was missing for a week too - and had severe pelvis/leg injuries. Initial attempts by our local vet to set the break weren't successful as the pin they inserted dislodged after a few days. However, he was then operated on at Royal Vets College down in Hatfield. They did a fab job and he is now racing up and down the stairs as I type He is able to do everything he could do before - except when he sits, he prefers to keep one of his legs extended due to stiffness.

It took our tom a fair few months to fully recover and he hated being left in a crate, but it was worth it
