?? where else would you bath it?

MayyourNewyearbePositive · 03/01/2010 17:51

Of course we did until we plumbed in a dog shower in the attached garage so they had their own H&C running water.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 03/01/2010 17:52

Our dog always gets washed in our bath, we use the shower mixer to do it.

Like CS says - where else? You can't do it outside! And she's far too big for the kitchen side - LOL!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 03/01/2010 17:53

A dog shower?!

Pants, something else to add to the wishlist for when I look for a new house!

ilovesprouts · 03/01/2010 17:55

ChasingSquirrels · 03/01/2010 17:56

oh, right. Then no I wouldn't take it to the groomers. I have never done this, our dog got bathed a few times a year, or more if totally filthy from walk, in the bath.

GhoulsAreLoud · 03/01/2010 17:58

Yes in the bath, then clean the bath.

DH is a bit funny about it but I can't see the problem if you clean the bath afterwards.

Sometimes do a hose bath outside in the summer though.

ShinyAndNew · 03/01/2010 17:59

My dog has just been in the shower. He is white and fluffy sometimes and so needs showering regularly. Plus he has a skin condition, so needs his special shampoo once a week.

Where else would I wash him?

ilovesprouts · 03/01/2010 18:00

We have a walk in shower that I use to bath/ wash my long haired dog. Very handy but I usually need to takeoff my trousers to avoid getting wet!

Also very easy to clean afterwards.

BellasSparklyBaubles · 03/01/2010 18:49

Always use a bath mat - too slippery otherwise & even if the dog doesn't slip they find it much more scary without a mat. You can throw the mat in the washing machine after, if you're fussy

FlyingReindeer · 03/01/2010 19:05

No! Outside with a hose.

Tortoiselookingforwardto2010 · 03/01/2010 19:08

Yes i shower my dog in the bath. Pain in the butt to get him in it (Greyhound!) but he would freeze outside.

Use the hose outside in the summer.

Ingles2 · 03/01/2010 19:10

I wash mine outside in a large metal bucket in all weathers
Don't tell her she should have the luxury of our bath

frostyfingers · 04/01/2010 11:23

Mine get washed from the hosepipe - unless it's frozen when they get a nice warm bucket. Funnily enough they loathe the warm water and are happier with cold hose! They do then get a good towel dry and sit in the utility room on their lovely warm vet bed on a lovely heated tiled floor! Obviously it's not a deep all over wash, just a rinse to get mud off - I only do proper washes on warm sunny days.

Since they are happy leaping in and out of the river, even when it's as cold as it is now, I don't think a wash outside harms them at all, especially since they dry off in the warm. They're labs so their coats are water repellent anyway and dry quickly.

Eldest lab rolled in badger poo a few weeks ago which did require a shampoo to the affected area - that was done outside with warm water and teatree shampoo - no way was she going in my bath stinking like that!

MmeLindt · 04/01/2010 11:27

In our bath, once a week.

Although I am considering taking her to the grooming parlour once or twice a month as it is difficult to get the knots out of her hair now that she has longer hair.

Would not do it outside, she is quite cold sensitive and shivers just being outside without her snazzy wee coat.

birdofthenorth · 04/01/2010 11:33

I sponge my two down outside with a bucket of warm water and some dog shampoo a couple of times a week. Tried them in our bath with the shower attachment but they hated it and kept leaping out!

iggypiggy · 04/01/2010 11:41

I don't bath my dog - strips the oils from his coat - so prefer not to... I use a homemade grooming spray (some essential oils in warm water) and brush that on him a few times a week so he smeels v. nice .

I would wash anything disgusting off him if I needed to, but he doesn't roll in stuff - he is a lab an they really shouldn't be bathed if possible.. Can see is different for other breeds tho...

My parents wash their collie in the shower if they need to wash her in the winter - so can't see a problem with it.

trellism · 04/01/2010 11:44

My dad showers with his dog.

It's quite logical.

But weird.

Romanarama · 04/01/2010 13:26

MIne is little and I haven't washed him yet. If I really had to I'd hose him in the garden though. DH would freak if I put him in the bath. Same way he freaks when pup licks the dirty cutlery in the dishwasher

ilovesprouts · 04/01/2010 16:31

well it was the very first time i put her in shower we have an old rubber bath mat she loved it ,no prob at all just did not wet her head ,so did not shake
