Got two guinea pigs today, could somebody answer a couple of questions for me? A bit anxious!

Is it normal that they have been hiding ever since we brought them home this afternoon? Do they just need time to settle in?

They live in a cage like this I'm worried that the food bowl is on the shelf thing, will they be able to get to it?

And they will know how to find the water bottle, won't they?

Its natural for them to hide yes!

You can tempt them out with some fresh veg, hold it in there and see if they will come up to you to get to know you.

My piglet has a cage like that and he is fine with getting up there but if you are worried then buy a bowl from pets at home and stick the food in there. Is that the exact cage?

Thank you for your advice! Yes it is that cage, only the platform bit is not just a corner it's the full width of the cage. Won't be able to get another bowl for a couple of days, so good to know yours manage to get up there. Have left some cucumber in the cage for them.

I have that cage for one pig, you may well find it is too small for two as they grow (my pigs are huge and fat mind you!). My other two live in a larger cage and tbh I think they would really struggle in my Chester pig's cage.

Guinea pigs are so gorgeous aren't they? Did you get boys or girls?

They are two boys. Don't know if I could fit a larger cage in! But we are planning to put them in an outside hutch when it's warmer, so will make sure that is bigger, cage just for winter months.
